We are being told that health care for all is too expensive. That is simple not true. We are already paying for healthcare for all, we just aren't getting it.
The United States tax payer pays the same amount as other nations in tax dollars per person for health care yet we give substandard health care to only 26% of our people while other nations give good healthcare to 100% of their people. In addition to what comes out of our taxes we are asked to spend a huge amount out of pocket. (See graphic)

Yet for all that money, we are ranked 37th among the world’s health care systems...and rightfully so. Look at life expectancy for our nation compared to others.

Additionally, drugs cost more in America than any where else due to marketing expenses.

All this talk about being unable to give all Americans health care because it is too expensive is just that—Talk. For what we pay I should be able to have a Nanny every day after I deliver a baby, instead of 2 days a week like the French. If we got the insurance industry and their $30 million a year CEO’s off our backs we could all have descent health care! If this system of health care by private insurance is so great then why aren't other nations falling over each other to copy it?
The reason you are not hearing the truth of our situation is because the health care insurance industry and big pharma advertise on all the major news outlets. It is simple a word of mouth game. If the internet can make as many people as possible aware that we have been mislead on this issue it will come to the forefront the same way the Iraq war has. If the American people actually realized that they were already paying for care that they simple are not getting then real solutions will have to be discussed.
By the way, these graphs are old. By the time you see these charts and figures the situation will be much worse. We are now paying $1000-$2000 a year more than what is shown in these graphs.
(My thanks to YES Magazine for these lovely graphs that make my point so handily.)
