First I want to give major props to Gina and the rest of the absolutely amazing team that put together Yearly Kos ’07. The immense amount of work you guys and gals put in was truly awe inspiring.
Now, to the future... Obviously one of the first choices about next year that will need to be made will be location. There will be in the coming weeks the now institutionalized annual flame war about my region or your region, but let me get the flames flying by arguing not for my region, but a return to Vegas.
Now I am an East Coaster, but I am not going to argue for an East Coast city because Vegas has something no convention center facility has:
All you can eat pancakes at 4am.
All you can eat pancakes at 4am is a symbol of what Vegas has to offer. In most cities the convention center is a mini city off to itself, but dead at late night times. In Vegas the party and thus the facilities never sleeps. You can find fun, drink, and food at all hours. There are plenty of venues for politicians and organizations can throw parties in the more happening less sterile environment than the limited options at convention centers.
As Markos points out, we drained the convention center bar dry. A return to Vegas will provide us more options than offered at a convention center.
