Yes, we've all been waiting for this.
Much as I loved YKSL - getting to meet and talk and have fun with avatars of some of my favorite Kossacks and some of my favorite Kossacks I've never heard of before, and the Leadership Presidential Candidate debate alone was worth the month of stripping to cover the registration fee - thanks to my Linux client, work, and RL I didn't get to see enough of the convention to do a retrospective.
And, well, I wound up naked at the parties :)
So why am I writing a diary? Join me below the flip and we'll talk.
What I wanted to talk about was the response Yearly Kos in Second Life got, whether we should have a Netroots Nation presence in Second Life, and what Netroots Nation in Second Life 08 should be like.
I mean, with little more than word-of-mouth and Kos diaries we got 126 people (at my last recollection) to attend out of 200 capacity.
Maybe I'm clueless, but that's pretty damn good.
I don't think it's too early to start preparing for NNSL 08 and I think the Netroots Nation should have a permanent area in SL - even a kiosk somewhere, but something. Yes, even if Jimbo and If are whimpering at the thought right now.
We can build on this. I think we had the best combination of video and community - not to slam Ustream.tv, I had to use the YKSL Ustream page when I needed video thanks to my stoopid Linux alpha. I see how Yearly Kos improved, and I think we can bring that to Second Life.
But, even though I was assimilated as a volunteer, I have no idea what went on backstage. Maybe it was too expensive and unsustainable.
This, then, would be the part where we talk about it. Oh, and thanks to my typist for letting me use a diary.
Yours,
