Senator Susan Collins' (R-ME) should have a real problem on her hands, that is if the media will treat her internet director with half the venom directed at the internet directors from Democratic campaigns.
He's posted a doozy, a screeching rave complaining about video-taping of Collins with vitriolic and hateful discussion of the netroots.
Desperately Stalking Susan Desperately Stalking Susan crosses the line on so many levels.
Markos Moulitsas’s hate-site The Daily Kos, the foul-mouthed fem-blog FiredogLake, and other ‘netroots’ extremists like MoveOn.org, have become the dominant fundraisers for Tom Allen’s senate campaign.
Wow, this guy should be writing for Faux News. He can make it up and spit it out at the same time.
FiredogLake is a "femblog"? I thought it was a top investigative site that got praise from establishment media for its coverage of the Libby trial. Just shows how blind I am to mistake 'fem-blog' material for serious investigative reporting ...
This may be good news for Allen financially, but allowing these fringe fanatics to take over his campaign is creating a political atmosphere that will undoubtedly be rejected by Maine voters come next November.
Yeah, fringe as in agreed with by the majority of Americans on most issues ...
Tom Allen’s involvement with these groups, particularly his participation in the website The Daily Kos, came onto the radar screen of Maine voters recently, as national media exposed a pattern of hateful, vulgar, and anti-semitic postings on the site. Now Allen’s extremist friends
Inventive.
National Media. Well, those opinion journalists at Faux News.
Pattern: What pattern? Random comments out of millions. And, well, what is this SOB saying about Fox News' hate filled screed in their blogs, Bill O'Reilly's, or the Wall Street Journal's?
When put into the context of what these ‘netroots’ fanatics have been saying online lately, the attempts to intimidate Senator Collins during such a benign event are troubling. It’s disturbing enough to hear Tom Allen’s MoveOn and DailyKos friends writing things like ‘Joe Lieberman should be gassed’ , or to hear them talk about killing politicians in their internet rants. But when they begin showing up in Maine, hovering over Girl Scouts and baby carriages, and following people around like this, it makes the disturbing rhetoric much more alarming.
WTF? What rants about killing politicians? I've missed those. And, gassing Lieberman? Come off it, if there are comments like that among the 10s of millions, they're sitting in hidden comments.
The question we face, will "moderate" Susan Collins step up and have to disown this or will she embrace it?
Anyone in Maine up to contacting your local press?

Reaction on the Web Note that Desperately Stalking Susan Desperately Stalking Susan is getting some decently strong question comments.
BBFST: Can you please provide the links from Daily Kos that call for Joe Lieberman to be gassed or for other politicians to be killed? Seriously, provide the links.
If they exist, I would expect that these are troll-rated, hidden comments, just like the Truthiness source for Ford's attack on Daily Kos.
Chris (My Two Sense): wow lance.. you really have gone off the deep end havent you? this isnt about dailykos, or anything like that. I have no idea where you would get a silly idea like that.
So, other than Macacca (a year ago today, no?) and birdogging -- what does this have to do with Daily Kos, other than we will be glad to watch Republicans strive to stick both their feet down their throats at the same time?
Sinfonian: Get off your high horse, pal, and quit clutching those pearls so tightly. Kos is no more responsible for the comments on his blog than you are for those here. I dare say fanaticism, while certainly present on the Left, is far more prevalent, and far more dangerous, on the Right.
What a strong point. Is he responsible for all of the sensible things progressives are posting to his blog?
BillyJoe: Bill O’Reilly was trying to make the same accusations about Daily Kos a few weeks ago.
When I want hateful, vulgar, and anti-semetic rants, I visit right wing blogs like Little Green Footballs and The Free Republic.
Daily Kos is more politically wonky, not racist and reactionary.
A true voice of reason ... speaking to the unreasoned ...
Well, the web reactions are amusing, but they won't be read by millions.
Again, take action:
