Lou Dobbs (not a favorite around here) started it, over a year ago. Complaining about last years "summit" between Canada, Mexico, and Corporate Bush. Warning that attempts were afoot to create a "North American Union".
The News Hour just had a feature story on this week's meeting, featuring a former Canadian PM, and a former Foreign minister of Mexico, touting the "value" of forming a North American Union.
It is being sold as a way to compete with the rising economies of China and India. Once again, Free Traders who can't compete on the playing field they plowed and marked, just change the rules.

Take the millions of acres of clean water, timber, and mineral deposits in Canada, the millions of starving workers in Mexico, and the infrastructure of the US and who, exactly is going to benfit from the "value" a North American Union will generate?
