I usually just tag onto the Orlando or San Francisco reports, but neither of them appear to be up yet, so...
It was a bright, sunny day yesterday in Eugene, a lot of motor-cycles out, for Labor Day weekend, I guess.
Just me, as usual, with all three signs (Enough; Orange Fridays; Honk for Impeachment). I must be doing this right, one of them yelled "[something something] DIRTY HIPPIE" !
The "Honk" sign gets lots of response, but people also wave, "V for victory", "thumbs-up", smile, etc. Got a couple of pedestrian "honks", and only 3 noticeable negatives. I checked "Gonzo" off on the Impeachment sign, ;-)
So many cars are closed up tight, must have AC on, that I don't get much verbal reaction. But I do get several "Thank you for doing this" every week, usually from women. I (a definitely middle-aged) female, seem to get more positive response from women drivers, although lots from all ages and genders.
I don't know about the "Orange Fridays" thing. It may never go anywhere in this town -- the big college football rival up the valley has orange and black for their colors, ;-)
I live far enough out of the center of town that I really don't know if anyone else is doing anti-war/peace, or Orange-Friday anythings, so it gets a little discouraging on my own, but when I saw this
"He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it."
~ Martin Luther King Jr.
in the Road2DC – Rise Up America! diary this morning, it was great: that's the concept that's keeping me going. It's gotten to where I can't NOT do something, even this little bit.
