kos had a post this weekend of the importance of not believing everything you read on the Internets because Josh "Tacticus" Trevino was laughing at a diary posted here.
Trevino wrote:
It’s no surprise that there are serial liars and embellishers on the interwebs. What should be noted is that their lies and embellishments can be utterly transparent and repetitive, and yet be accepted as fact time and again by the audience for whom they confirm basic prejudices.
Trevino should know. He is a serial liar and embellisher. And a fascism lover who thinks our problem in Iraq is we're not putting the women and children in concentration camps.
Sadly too many here excuse Trevino's behavior in the past because they like him personally.
But still, how else can you describe someone who lies like this in a past post arguing why the United States must stay in Iraq?
The broadly anti-war journalist Michael Yon, lately on the ground in Iraq, makes this point eloquently:
Having been beaten in Mosul, and pushed out of Tal Afar, and long since driven from the Kurdish strongholds in the North, the enemy is clearly concentrating efforts in the capital city area.
Michael Yon "broadly anti-war"? A "journalist"?
Yon identified himself as pro-war and repeatedly has said he is not a journalist. Here is some background on Yon:
Yon is a former Special Forces soldier.
He's working with Bruce Willis to make a pro-Iraq war movie.
It's obvious why Trevino would lie and call Yon anti-war in order to give his statements credibility. People on the pro-war side have no credibility. Trevino did this long before Pollack and O'Hanlon made lying about being anti-war to have credibility popular.
As for his being a fascist, let's not forget this notorious writing of his.
Don't believe everything you read on the Internet. But don't believe anything written by Trevino without checking it with other sources.
