Folks, remember, electing a president iinevitably means scrutiny on the president's family. Anybody familiar with the embarassments bred by Billy Carter, Roger Clinton, Neil Bush et al, knows that presidential siblings can hinder public image of a president and consequently impair his/her effectiveness.
While that can be unfair, behavior of siblings can also provide biographical insight regarding the candidate's formative background. With that in mind, would-be Hillary supporters should re-aquaint yourself with Hillary's brothers, Hugh and Tony:
From wikipedia:
As the Clinton administration came to a close in early 2001, it was discovered that Hugh Rodham received around $400,000 for legal services regarding gaining the Presidential pardon of fradulent businessman Glenn Braswell and the sentence commutation of drug trafficker Carlos Vignali.[6] While legal experts said that Rodham may well not have done anything wrong, the appearance of possible impropriety certainly existed.[6] Moreoever, coming while the Bill Clinton pardons controversy was already in full force, this was a further embarrassment for the former administration and even got the attention of the Congressional House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.[2] Hillary Clinton, now a newly-sworn-in Senator, said, "He's my brother. I love my brother ... I'm just extremely disappointed in this terrible misjudgment that he made ... I knew nothing about my brother's involvement in these pardons. I knew nothing about his taking money for his involvement."[2] Both Clintons pressured Rodham to return the $400,000, which he promptly did.[9] During this time, Rodham additionally collected media criticism for being overweight and a poor dresser.[9][13]
Subsequently, Hugh Rodham stayed out of the public eye.
This is from a UPI wire story in 2001:
LAKE WINOLA, Pa. -- Tony Rodham, the brother of New York's Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, was assaulted by a man who accused him of having sex with his girlfriend in the longtime Rodham summer home in Lake Winola, Pa., near Scanton.
Daniel Martin Coyne, 45, was charged with assault, burglary and trespassing, according to Pennsylvania State Police. He was released Monday on $25,000 bail from the Wyoming County Correctional Facility.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 28.
"Coyne said he came to the cottage at about 3 a.m. and saw his girlfriend Kelly Ann Quick, 36, and Tony Rodham having sex," a Pennsylvania State Police spokesman said. "He assaulted Rodham and the noise alerted his brother, Hugh Rodham, who ordered him from the cottage."
Tony Rodham, 47, suffered facial lacerations. He was divorced last year from Nicole Boxer, the daughter of California Sen. Barbara Boxer. Police said that Coyne made a second trip to the cottage to retrieve his keys and he allegedly assaulted Tony Rodham a second time.
Hugh Rodham and Quick stepped in to break up the fight between the two men. Tony Rodham said he hit Coyne to defend himself. Coyne was treated in a hospital for a dislocated shoulder, lacerations, and a swollen eye.
And this stuff is really just the tip of the iceberg. Do a google search and see for yourself. Look, as a democrat, I don't want to go thru this kind of crap again. Why would we want to bring all of this back with Clinton administration part 2? Both Obama and Edwards are viable democratic alternatives who can clear the air of all this and offer a fresh start.
