an unguarded response to an Australian minister:
Sydney Morning Herald
Bush (...) arrived in Australia in a chipper mood.
"We're kicking ass," he told Mark Vaile on the tarmac after the Deputy Prime Minister inquired politely of the President's stopover in Iraq en route to Sydney.
Hmmm... let's see:
- this is all just a game. He uses language commonly used to comment football games to forget about the real death and destruction of the war he decidered to get into and dehumanise the victims. By all measures America is indeed "winning" aganst Iraq;
- the goal of the war was just to kill towelheads - for revenge, and because he could - and that's just going dandy;
- he actually believes the self-serving numbers given to him by generals and advisors (which were under instructions to find numbers that looked good or, at least, adequate). Asses are being kicked enough to declare victory;
- the asses being kicked are the Democrats'.
