I love C-Span. I watch it all of the time, and learn so much from it. Today on C-Span 3, while waiting for Petraeus's microphone to be repaired, we got to listen in as Duncan Hunter and Skelton spoke about the group Code Pink.
These lawmakers act as if they know everything, however, they obviously did not realize that they could be overheard. At the beginning of the hearing, a few people in the audience became loud, and were asked to leave. Then Rep. Skelton asked someone with a sign to be removed. At that time, Rep. Hunter leaned over and told him that there is a group of about ten people sitting together that are from the same group. He said they plan on "sacrificing" one of their people every 5 minutes or so. He said that if someone else causes a disruption, Chairman Skelton should throw them all out. "The ones wearing pink." "Any demonstrations, any signs, or demonstrative evidence will cause your removal. Skelton said once the hearing reconvened. On this the day after Constitution Day (which I celebrated by marching in our local parade with my group called Americans For Constitutional Integrity-we are calling for the Impeachment of Bush and Cheney), our rights are being squashed by the people who have sworn to uphold the Constitution, and our rights as U.S. citizens. This has got to end. When American Citizens cannot even sit quietly, wearing pink, or t-shirts with slogans, without being forced to leave, we are definitely living in an Orwellian state. God help us.
