Just watched a video of Jerry Sanders, the mayor of San Diego, announcing that he will support a resolution that was recently approved by city council. It's no small moment for a man who opposed gay marriage.
There isn't too much to say other than the fact that watching this man announce such a change of heart is to watch the embodiment of hope. To see that there is change to be had.
We don't have to wait for people to die to get the change we need. Hearts expand.
To the jump.
Hat tip to Down with Tyranny for this.
Here is the video. It's quite moving.
After the 2000 election I made a solemn vow to never ever vote for a Republican. I intend to keep that vow.
I'm damn glad that I don't live in San Diego though, because I would be sorely test to vote for Mayor Jerry Sanders as a sign of approval. We can't just complain. We have to give thanks when people do right.
But perhaps we could all send him a note of thanks. Go here to do that. We all love to take people to task. It'd be nice for us to show him that we're motivated when people do the right thing too!
Thank you sir. A good day!
