ThinkProgress is reporting that:
By a vote 76-22, the Senate passed the Lieberman-Kyl amendment, which threatens to "combat, contain and [stop]" Iran via "military instruments." Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) called the amendment "Cheney’s fondest pipe dream" and said it could "read as a backdoor method of gaining Congressional validation for military action."

Some of the more objectionable language has been removed from the original amendment, i.e.
(3) that it should be the policy of the United States to combat, contain, and [stop] the violent activities and destabilizing influence inside Iraq of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, its foreign facilitators such as Lebanese Hezbollah, and its indigenous Iraqi proxies;
(4) to support the prudent and calibrated use of all instruments of United States national power in Iraq, including diplomatic, economic, intelligence, and military instruments, in support of the policy described in paragraph (3) with respect to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies.
But there is still plenty to be worried about, including the placement of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists. That designation makes them targets in the war on terror and may justify U.S. military attacks on them within Iran.
What I want to know is, what the f**k has happened to our Democratic leaders?
Why do we even bother to have elections?
What good is the Democratic Party if they consistently ignore their constituents (and morality)?
What do the 70% of Americans who are repulsed by this administration, and bills like this one, supposed to do?
Who represents us?
No one! We have no representation. Perhaps we should have no taxation. Perhaps we should listen to Thomas Jefferson:
"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it"
What do we have to do to make our voices heard? And when heard, listened to?
