Just to fill out Senator Kerry's biography a bit, Kos readers might be interested to know he's a licensed commercial pilot.
According to the FAA database (searchable online at
Landings.com), John Forbes Kerry of Boston, Massachusetts -- is there any other? -- holds a commercial pilot certificate (and instrument rating) for single engine airplanes (both land and seaplanes) and multiengine airplanes (land only). He also has a private pilot certificate for glider towing.
Kerry's second class (commercial) medical license was just renewed in December, 2003. (You have to take a respectably rigorous physical to get that license.) Kerry timed that medical exam perfectly for presidential election purposes if he becomes the nominee. He won't have to take the next one (for renewal) until this December, after the general election. Expect Drudge to start the "What is he hiding?" stories any day now.
The database does not list any aircraft type ratings, so I am unable to determine if Kerry is qualified in any large aircraft.
George W. Bush is not listed in the same database, although licensed pilots can opt out of the public database if they wish.
So far as I know there's no "Pilots for Kerry." And, no, I'm not interested in registering the domain name.
