Vietnam, Swift Boats, Malkin, 527s, Holy Hell!!! We are totally falling for it. Totally.
We are NOT talking about what's going on in the world... just in the press, which is leading us around in a virtual debate that amounts to nothing.
I'm all for debunking their talking points. I'm all for thinking strategically.
But face it, framing the debate this way is all about avoiding talking about anything that can affect the base (theirs or ours) and in fact to avoid talking about anything of any impact on the world.
What's REALLY important? What should we be talking about? This isn't important. We don't think it's important but they have convinced us that this unimportant thing is more important than anything else, in spite of being unimportant.
Am I doing anything about it? No, just writing a diary. I wish we'd talk about North Korea, China, Pakistan-India, Education, Voting Fraud, Healthcare, Local Issues, Religion, Cereals, which side to butter the toast on and what kind of beer bears prefer, etc., all the things we normally address... but we have let the Swift Boat Veterans for Tooth take over even our own actual concerns.
Hell, maybe it really is the most important thing to cover what CNNMSNBCFOXNEWSABCNBCCBS are covering; I admit I've yet to get elected on my strategy of comparing Socrates to Thales. And I'm -very-glad that Kerry hasn't -ignored- it, but damn I'm sick of this.
It's fluking booooorrrrring!
That's right. That's right. Summary: please entertain me better.
