Seems pretty simple to me: you marry someone you love, you get to live with them. I'm not talking about the straight people who get to marry even though they're incarcerated. I'm not talking about the straight people who get married even though they are in mental institutions. And I'm not talking about gay people at all.
No.
I'm talking about the good old days when you pretty much got automatic citizenship for marrying the opposite-sexed person of your dreams.
And while we're talking about automatic citizenship, seems to me that if you join the armed services of a country, and fight a war for it, seems to me the very least that country can do is make you a citizen of it.
But what about the poor bastards who sign up to fight for our nation, only to have their spouses deported while they are on active duty? Does that even make sense?
Well, the Gonzalezes are facing just such an issue. And, as much as I think this war sucks, and as much as I think the Republicans are jerks for cutting health benefits and schooling and housing and whatever else for the families of service personnel, shipping them off to another country while the service member is on active duty seems to be stooping to new depths.
