Ron Paul is nothing like Howard Dean on the issues. That doesn't even have to be debated.
But could Ron Paul parlay his strong and passionate web-organizated support base and a surprisingly strong Q3 fundraising total into a come-from-nowhere leading position in GOP polls?
I certainly hope so!
Here's why.
Rudy Giuliani. The dominionists are freaked out by him. He could totally subvert what the Republican Party stands for on social issues, they worry.
But if they think that's scary, imagine the apoplectic paroxysms of neocons facing a Ron Paul nomination! Indeed, the entire Republican Party would be essentially overthrown by an agent of the Libertarian Party, of which Paul is the former standard-bearer. The dominionist threat of a third-party candidate against Giuliani may only be a threat, but you can bet the neocons will dump real money into a massive third-party bid against Paul and the Democratic nominee. They would have no other choice. They are far too committed to their scorched-earth agenda. It would be the ultimate split of the Republican party.
I know I'm rooting for a Ron Paul nomination. Are you?
