As bad as Iran can be, I've noticed for a while how our government is beating the war drums for Iran. I'm fully against a war in Iran because it is simply too hard for our government to manage 3 wars at once.
It's also scary how the amount of propaganda about Iran is getting to people. I remember the drive to a war in Iraq that started a few years ago with the false Iraq/9/11 connection and allegations of WMD.
We all know where that went.
While discussing the thought of a war in Iran with someone that I know, I felt that his comments about Iran were not only exaggerated, but also reminiscent of the type of propaganda that is starting to spread on Iran. Here's an excerpt of what this fellow said:
I'm pretty sure you tried pulling this string before, and I'm pretty sure we pointed out to you that Iran's government is a rogue, murderous, troop killing machine that has funded terrorists, threatened to turn Israel into a dust bowl, and continues to listen to absolutely nobody.... and OUR government is stirring the pot?
What I find troubling about this paragraph is how this guy equates Iran with the regime of Saddam Hussein. While the Iranian President has said unsavory things about Israel in the past, he has yet to take any action against Israel. In fact, Iran has yet to even strike the U.S with weapons of any kind. He's also quite ignorant to the fact that Iran is pursuing diplomatic efforts to come to a solution on its' nuclear program.
So, it looks like Mr.Rove's propaganda has achieved its' first objective. Next thing you know, Bush is aggressively trying to pin the blame on Iraq for supposedly supplying the resistance forces in Iraq with weapons to kill U.S soldiers.
While I may not be an expert on this issue, I still find it quite troubling how people are quick to believe what they are fed by Fox News and sometimes, even the MSM.
We truly live in frightening times.
