The future is looking bleak, and the Neo-Cons are in cheering mode!

I just caught a quick local report about this.

Arlington Cemetery To Begin $35M Expansion

It will give space to more graves for the first time since the 60's!

Officials say the extra space will provide room for 14,000 ground burials and 22,000 inurnments in a large columbarium complex.

Looks like either they're getting the message about the BlowBack to come, from the recent past and present, or the Hawks have a firm grip on More Failed Policies!!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

But isn't there a more pressing conspiracy angle? I have my money on a landing station for Masonic-linked UFO's.

-- while I'm listening to Springsteen's "Last to die"!
Death is potentially sadness-producing, but older vets aside-- enlarging Arlington brings images of:
taps, and folded flags, and black-garbed women too young for widowhood!!
I've been to Arlington, more than one time (when I was still living on the East Coast). My Dad and grandpop are buried together in Nat'l Cemetery, Beverly NJ; their deaths were about 30 years apart--
there was a space problem in 1982!!
On O'ahu, there's the Pacific Nat'l Cemetery. I first saw it in 1985 -- and somehow even more moved than when I saw Arlington.
What gave me chickenskin, was to learn-- before some dippy haole named it Punchbowl for the shape:
ancient Hawaiians called it Place of Sacrifice!
I'll have to research if there are any plans afoot to enlarge Punchbowl also.
OMFG!  I just want this fucking war to stop!!

Veterans of WWII are passing away in record numbers. My father was interred in a National cemetary outside Joliet in 2003 and the place was so busy they had trouble keeping an honor guard at full strength for the customary 21 gun salute.

    •  That's The Point.... (0+ / 0-)

They're using the deaths of WWII Vets as their Excuse, they knew what was happening and this is the First Major Expansion to Arlington since the 60's!!!

If they were sent to fight, they are too few. If they were sent to die, they are too many!
