Well, if you turn this issue sideways, spin it around a few times, and pinch your nose while holding it at arms length, they may be on to something.
It now appears that the neo-cons I argue with daily on other blogs were right about the dangers of Nancy Pelosi taking the reins. Of course their reasons for disliking her had nothing to do with the eventual outcome but obviously they were on to something.
Now, that doesn't mean I'm going to start to heed their advice on others they dismiss. Their arguments and vicious attacks against their political adversaries are for the most part utterly ridiculous but occasionally they nail it even if their reasoning is 180 degrees out from reality.
Isn't it ironic that one of the arguments the Republicans made against a Democratic takeover of Congress was a label of weakness and capitulation? Of course they were trying to instill fear in the public of a body too indecisive to strike back at the "terrists". What's bizarre though is they actually were right that this bunch was truly a cowering lot that wouldn't take on the true evil in the world today - the very people that were attacking them.
Nancy Pelosi doesn't seem to understand that a 70% mandate from the public is exactly what it appears to be and that even if some of that bunch are not well-informed on issues of Iraq and limiting the power of an administration out of control, those kinds of numbers don't just pop up out of thin air by an illiterate citizenry.
Nancy, if you actually read what we, the truly clueless, have to say on here, let me implore you. I don't have a voice with my own Congressional representation in Arizona. They are so far to the right I'm sure my emails and phone calls are nothing more than a source of amusement to them. There's many of us in the country in my situation and, despite the fact that you don't geographically represent me, you still took an oath to defend the Constitution and you have a personal responsibility to insist on ethical behavior from the Executive branch of government.
It's time. No more excuses. Please don't allow your actions to make the neo-cons right. It's embarrassing.
