ONE BIG PROBLEM with BushCo Corporatism is that they tell people what to think and how to live.
From the top down, dull and intolerant.
So, what happens in America ? For example, to music ??
If you want to sing, then best odds are Fox's American Idol. Then get picked by Clear Channel.
Music's Top 40 homogenized copy-cat.
Nobody drinks, travels, gets educated.
After 2003 nobody's military.
American Idol is 100% derivative.
Compare with England.
Where tolerance is the national religion.
There, corporatism is irrelevant to radio.
Here's what FREEDOM begets:
Great blues singing lives somewhere black of sanity.
A waking nightmare between life and death.
Quite simply, this girl - at 24 - has changed our expectation for what a singer can accomplish, putting her soul over into sound.
In America no one would hear it. And she would be dead.
Amy Winehouse is going to try a brief tour.
Starts in Germany on Monday.
Please, if you pray, put her in your prayers.
Winehouse is Big Mojo.
This has a 1,000,000 hits on YouTube. Accelerating.
Simply, once she rolls into it - where the camera moves in - there's nothing like on recorded audio.
There have been dozens of great, great blues singers.
Just nothing like this. In part because Amy was raised with super-level jazz and blues musicians around her.
Also because she had every encouragement from them, believing that she was special beyond measure.
The down side is almost as staggering as what-all happened to Edith Piaf.
Lurid history, mental problems, damaged-imperfect body... self-damaged. Junkie. Couple years mostly drunk. Skin graffiti.
Violent fights.
"Bi-polar" from the get-go.
On the worst days an unliveable mess.
Loving her husband Blake is reportedly what keeps her going.
Be grateful - truly - that you do not walk in these shoes.
Pink writes: "I'm not here to entertain you."
Smart gal. Toughest of the Americans.
Winehouse does entertain, more or less, but apart from "Eff Me Pumps" that is incidental.
My God is the blues.
When you get to the Pearly Gates, you don't have to have much of a voice or stay in tune.
But you do need to find your soul and tell the story.
That's a decent recipe for how to live, too.
Kinda the opposite of soaking up Rush/Rove demonic hatreds.
The sooner we move toward the English model for society, the better.
Amy Winehouse is living proof.
BTW: showing kids HOW TO THINK is hard enough. That's about the best I'd believe anyone can do.
