Tomorrow, the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) is hosting a Republican presidential candidate forum, featuring the leading GOP candidates.
It turns out this was perfect timing, as it comes on the heels of both John McCaincalling America a Christian nation and Ann Coulter's anti-Jewish comments on CNBC.
After all GOP candidates rushed to condemn MoveOn's Petraeus ad, we at the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) are challenging the candidates to condemn Coulter prior to addressing Jewish voters on Tuesday.
In addition, we are circulating a petition to news networks asking them to sop inviting Coulter as a guest.
It is our hope that reporters who are attending the RJC conference will put the candidates on the spot and ask them whether they are willing to condemn Coulter and renounce her support for the Republican party and its candidates.
The other GOP candidates should also be asked to take a stand on McCain's "Christian nation" comments.
Things like this are exactly why Republican efforts to court Jewish voters keep on failing. At the end of the day, Jewish voters don't want to have any part of a party that refuses to distance itself from the Coulters, Robinsons, Dobsons, and McCains of the world.
