Many of us have been following the current storm around a gender inclusive ENDA bill. We've yelled at each other. We've agonized with each other. We've discussed our positions. But we've also called our Representatives and, mirabile dictu!, some of them seem to have listened.
From the United ENDA coalition statement (found at Donna Rose's ENDA Blog):
Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) announced today that she has secured an agreement from the Democratic leadership to introduce an amendment to H.R. 3685 that would restore gender identity protections to the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). The amendment would be considered on the House floor next week, after the bill moves through the House Education and Labor Committee this Thursday.
So what I'd like everyone to do is, please:
Call/Visit/Email your US Representative and ask them to support the Baldwin amendment to H.R. 3685 regarding gender identity protections. Ask them to co-sponsor the amendment if they can.
Then call 10 of your friends/acquaintances and ask them to do the same for their Rep.
Please.
