Right now this is not in in the mainstream. It is being liveblogged by Karendc from the Democracy Cell Project.
Karen states, 'I haven't seen effective action like this...since...wellllll....1977? Clamshell?"
She added in her first update:
"UPDATE: As police walked by escorting a polar bear contingent, I overhead one of the radios crackle: "Twenty on bikes heading east on Constitution."
She is updating with comments and photos as quickly as possible. The internet connection is somewhat flakey.
These people sitting are in line waiting to be arrested. In DC, one doesn't have to create violence to engage in civil dissent and civil disobedience.
I will try to keep adding more as I get the information. In the meantime, you can see original photos and comments at the Democracy Cell Project.
This is Adam Kokesh who was previously arrested for participating in a 'staged' funeral at the Capital which was to represent the burial of soldiers. And also he was arrested for the blatent crime of posting a poster for a peace rally (as so many organizations do) in DC. Adam was arrested the other organziations were not.
Sounds like a good day for action for all of us too. We may not be able to join them in DC to get arrested but we should take it to our streets AND we should be calling and faxing all day!
UPDATE: 60 arrested so far.
