Pelosi has threatened the removal of Michigan Rep. John Conyers from his chairmanship of the House judiciary committee if an impeachment inquiry were even opened, according to reliable congressional chatter.

Rep. Conyers put out an extremely detailed book on Bush's "high crimes" and a "blueprint for impeachment." Now he has mysteriously retreated into silence.
What happened?
I have some questions and requests:
Does Pelosi alone have the RIGHT to threaten Conyers in this way?
Even if she doesn't have the right, does Pelosi alone have the POWER to do this?
If she does have the power to do this and not the right, what rule or law has she violated and what is the penalty? Who would have the power to enforce this penalty?
Does anyone have any additional information on whether she DID do this?
Thanks.
