As the CBS news article linked below and my subject-line mention, those are poll numbers of a guy who isn't even in the race! Gore is no Thompson: he really needs to be pushed to actually enter the 2008 race for the presidency. Whether we like it or not, Obama and Edwards are quickly falling to the wayside and with the exception of a possible Iowa upset (which may or may not make any difference anyway), only one man stands in the way of status-quo-loving DINOcrats taking the nomination (but likely losing the general election, see Hillary negatives in polls). According to this poll, that man standing in the way of Hillary is Al Gore.
Again, if Mr. Gore doesn't enter the race to stop the Clinton money-machine, we are looking at likely losing both the White House and Congressional seats because 1) the unpopular Clintons are at the top of the ticket and 2) Democratic floundering on the immigration issue while Republicans revel in their racist, xenophobic glory while appealing to the worst in people.
Please Vice President Gore. The world needs you. The poll:
Sen. Hillary Clinton has widened her lead in the race for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, according to the latest CBS News poll of Democratic primary voters. But more than one third of voters overall say they would definitely not vote for the former first lady.
[snip]
When former Vice President Al Gore, who has not entered the race, is added as a choice for the Democratic nomination, he emerges as a serious contender. Gore garners support of 32 percent of Democratic primary voters, while Clinton gets 37 percent, Obama 16 percent, and Edwards 7 percent. Gore is viewed favorably by 46 percent of registered voters, his highest favorability rating since October, 2000.
