I really admire Rep. Dennis Kucinich and think he is right in just about all of his policy positions, including the need to impeach the Vice-President of the United States. I wish that the other serious democratic candidates for President were closer to him in their positions. But I truly do not believe that Dennis Kucinich has a chance of getting either the Presidential or Vice-Presidential nomination. But maybe there’s a better office for Congressman Kucinich – Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The fact that I’m writing this post probably proves to most knowledgeable people that I know next to nothing about the workings of the U.S. House of Representatives and what it takes to become Speaker of the House. Maybe that’s a good thing because it allows me to think way out-of-the-box. But imagine what would happen if a Democrat gets elected to the Presidency and begins her term with Dennis Kucinich serving as Speaker of the House. We could begin the process of repairing a great deal of serious damage that has been done to our wonderful country.
How can America make Dennis Kucinich Speaker of the House? I don’t really know. But I assume it would have to start from within the ranks of those who support Democratic candidates in Congress. It could start with a grassroots movement, similar to the draft Al Gore for President movement, with people who share a common desire to see something really good and important for our country to happen. It would mean supporting Democratic candidates for Congress who state that they would vote for Dennis for Speaker. It would mean that the sacred rules of the House of Representatives might have to be set aside or modified in order to elect the Congressman from Ohio.
Could it happen? Probably not. But what a worthwhile idea to ponder. Speaker of the House, Dennis Kucinich, could quickly become an equal with the President of the United States, a mover, a shaker, a real deal maker, instead of a rubber stamp or the nervous, shivering, political hack that now sits in the chair.
Maybe I’m just a dreamer. But I’ve learned that great movements often start with silly dreams.
