I officially live in a state where the majority persecutes the minority on religious grounds. As a Unitarian Universalist I feel that my denomination (one of many that have welcoming congregations) is an island of sanity in a sea of red hate. My wife & I left the Episcopal faith after the bishop of the Dallas-Ft Worth Diocese wrote a standardized letter to all members essentially saying the New England Episcopalians were all going to hell after electing a LGBT bishop in '03. I am ashamed of my state and blame the public education system and the medical lobbies like TMA and the AMA for not standing up for what is right. All the major medical professional academies (Am. Medical, Psychological, Psychiatric and Pediatric) have concluded that homosexuality is not something one chooses. Science, enlightenment and reason loose out to bigotry, literalism and ignorance....I'm going to get some breakfast, this is making me too angry.....
