There's a Democrat in the House of Representatives who's co-sponsoring impeachment of Dick Cheney (one of 22).
This Democrat is co-sponsoring John Conyers' single-payer health care bill (one of 86). The Democrat supports cutting off funds for Iraq (was one of 70 then, one of more than 70 now). He supports Shea-Porter's bill to prohibit courts from using signing statements in determining the meaning of laws (one of 58)
He opposed the FISA capitulation. He voted against condemning MoveOn (one of 79).
Naturally, he's getting a primary challenge from a liberal activist who's fed up with all of these treasonous actions.
I'm of course talking about Albert Wynn and kos's story "MD-04: Wanna take on the establishment?"
Although we're supporting Mark Pera (donate to him; Lipinski got into Congress in the corrupt, nepotistic way of having his dad drop out after the primary in 2004 and then having the Chicago machine endorse Dan to replace him and he's really sucked ever since), I don't recall a drive to raise $100,000. Most I remember is a call for 500 contributors.
So, is there nobody else in a blue district other than Lipinski who's more deserving of a primary challenge than Wynn?
If not, I'm not sure why we're angry with Congress.
Update:
I think that we should be focusing more on keeping solid incumbents [basically just Cohen] AND
making sure we get good people in open-seat districts.
We lucked out last time around with Cohen, Clarke and Ellison, probably Hirono, Welch and Sutton too.
I'm unsure about Sarbanes,
However:
We nearly had no candidate on the ballot in OH-6 and, while he won solidly, Charlie Wilson is pro-life and nowhere near as good as Strickland in most ways.
Castor's vote on, say SCHIP was very disappointing, even if Tampa is cigar city.
And in open seats this cycle:
We came really f'in close to losing MA-5; I think Jamie Eldridge would've done better; support by dKos could've maybe carried him to victory.
We'll see if Laura Richardson is good (CA-37), although she wasn't Major Danby's choice, that doesn't mean she's bad. Time will tell.
