Yeah, it's been asked many times. Why is the Prez not asking the people to make a sacrifice in this "time of war".
Well, it's easy really. The people who can least afford to sacrifice are the ones who are making those sacrifices.
How? Well, the appropriation bills, SCHIP etc. The Prez won't sign anything that spends one dollar over his own proposals. As we all know, even if all the so called "overages" in appropriations and SCHIP etc were totalled up, they would be a very small percentage of the money obligated / requested for Iraq.
So, we can spend hundreds of billions on Iraq but we can't have more kids get insurance. Who is making that sacrifice?
Maybe someone with more time / brains than me can peel some more layers off that onion.
However, it's about time for our Dems in the congress to start calling a spade a spade. Enough with the BS coming from the GOP about spending and holding the line etc. The Prez won't allow SCHIP because it we need the money for other things (IRAQ, subsidies for big oil, pharma and whoever else).
It is the less fortunate who are making the sacrifice and not by choice. It's by design.
Man, would I love to hear some Dems take up that talking point!
