"Step it up! And step right up to the Edwards Campaign!!!!" A call to all environmentalists, still waiting on the sidelines.
John Edwards is the candidate that best addresses the environment. That is why Friends of Earth Action has endorsed him! Best of all, he is on the ballot. He is the most electable green candidate on the ballot and his campaign is the place where global warming can best be fought.
As Senator Edwards so clearly pointed out in this past week's debate: there is only one reason the country has not tackled global warming. It hasn't happened because energy companies and their paid lobbyists have prevented change. Senator Edwards connects the dots between insider and lobbyist influence and global warming inertia in Congress and Administration(s) far back. With his willingness to remove that part of the equation, to take on the undue influence of energy companies and their lobbyists, he will be freer to advance his plan for reversing global warming and ensuring stewardship for the earth.
This is why Friends of Earth Action endorsed John Edwards for president, citing these reasons - because a President Edwards would:
- "Cap and reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2020 and 80% by 2050;
- Commit America and lead the world toward a - new global climate change treaty;
- Lead America to a new energy economy by investing in clean, renewable energy and creating a million new jobs; and,
- Reject new nuclear plants in the United States."

From John Edwards own home page these are the points from his plan that Senator Edwards reiterated in a keynote speech he gave at a Step it Up Rally in New Orleans.
"Edwards' has called for addressing global warming by:
- Capping greenhouse gas pollution starting in 2010 with a cap-and-trade system, and reducing it by 20 percent by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050, as the latest science says is needed to avoid the worst impacts of global warming.
- Leading the world to - a new climate treaty that commits other countries
- Creating a $13 billion a year New Energy Economy Fund by auctioning off the right to emit greenhouse gas pollution and repealing subsidies for big oil companies. The fund will support U.S. research and development in energy technology, help entrepreneurs start new businesses, invest in new carbon-capture and efficient automobile technology and help Americans conserve energy.
- Meeting the demand for more electricity through efficiency for the next decade, instead of producing more electricity."

"Our generation must be the one that says 'yes' to renewable fuels and ends forever our dependence on foreign oil. Our generation must be the one that accepts responsibility for conserving natural resources and demands the tools to do it. And our generation must be the one that builds the New Energy Economy." John Edwards Ibid
So I say to you: Gore hopesters, Greens, even Kucinich supporters, the greenest candidate with the best chance of winning is John Edwards. It's time to join forces. Step it up and step right up to the Edwards campaign. Join One Corps today and get involved.
