To Emmis Communications (Indianapolis) this morning:
I sent the following letter to WIBC this morning. Just an FYI.
I'm sick of their telling me on one hand that they disagree with a lot of what goes on in AM talk radio, showing up with a booth at gay pride and Earth Day (etc), but then making money off of the Limbaugh/Garrison right wing talk radio hate machine. Has the Indianapolis newspaper Nuvo, or the Indianapolis Star ever run a story on the stuff that gets pushed by WIBC and the Cumulus Media FM talk radio 93.9 station? This has just gone way too far.
This garbage is broadcast on loudspeakers on Monument Circle for Pete's sake! What does that say about Indy to visitors from out of state or country? It says we are hateful redneck bigots is what it says...

Dear Emmis Communications,
This morning on your Indianapolis flagship WIBC morning Garrison Show ( http://wibc.com/... ), Greg said (paraphrased), that gays don't care about "brown" people in Africa. This occurred in the 9-10am segment of the program in the midst of Greg's standard shtick talking points that there is no global warming, DDT is good, and the "gay agenda blah blah blah" garbage he's been getting more and more strident about.
His morning program today was incredibly offensive to gays and people with HIV. I want an on air apology from Mr. Garrison.
Mr. Garrison has a responsibility to be entertaining and provide ratings and therefore advertising revenue for WIBC. He does not have a responsibility or right to spread lies and hatred over the air.
Dana Curtis Kincaid...
AM talk radio is feeding the worst elements of the stupid side of American society with hatred, pure and simple. This has to stop.
Addressing the talking points that gays don't care about brown people in Africa directly, I say, "Crap". That statement is generalizing, hateful, idiotic garbage meant for one reason alone - and that's to continue to stress the relationship between gays of all colors and the heterosexual black community.
Race and gay baiting all at the same time, how convenient!
