In a clip that was passed around YouTube a few months back, Dick Cheney once asked in 1994 "Once you get rid of Saddam Hussein's government then what are you going to put in it's place?" Since March 20th, 2003 our troops have been fighting a war to determine just that. They have turned corners, brought the insurgency to it's last throes, and now are surging toward victory (so we are told again). Have we passed the point where victory with honor is unachievable? Have we replaced Saddam with something better?
I edited this video together over the last couple of weeks to deal with some of the frustration I felt in waiting for our politicians to end the Iraq War. I have no patience for that process and it’s beyond my ability to comprehend why the will of a growing majority of Americans is not being acted upon by our counterparts in government. Naive as I am, I had thought that once we got the Democrats in control of the House and the Senate the Iraq War would be over by the end of the 2007. That turned out to be wishful thinking, so I thought I'd try to give them a little push in the right direction.
My objective in creating this is to remind people of what the Iraq War is all about, and subsequently make them angry enough to call their senators and representative in congress and tell them to stop funding the war. That’s it. I believe we should push as hard against them as we want them to push for an end to the Iraq War. Call even if your representatives vote for the war all the time or if they’re a Republican. As congress moves toward legislation which will determine continued funding of the war it's important for them to know where you stand. Let them come back from Thanksgiving break to dozens of voice mails demanding they end the war.
This video is my view of the war as I have experienced it through the media. I'm interested in hearing your comments and criticisms, as well as your advice on how you think it could've been made better. Feel free to pass it on or re-post on other blogs.
