The medieval mystic Meister Eckhardt once said, “If the only prayer* you say is thank you, that would suffice.”
I agree.
So on this weekend, let us give us thanks for all that makes us grateful, simply and generously.
I'm grateful for many things both profound and humble, from my wife and children to the Eggs Benedict skillet at the Gateway Cafe in Kewaskum. I'm grateful for my church, and for all the people I've met online. You've supported me and challenged me and blessed me.
But there's one person in particular I'd like to thank tonight. Whatever you think of Markos or the relationship of Daily Kos and Street Prophets, the fact is that he didn't have to do anything for us. But he set us up, allows us to squat on his servers, and pours support time and effort into keeping us going. As I said, he didn't have to do any of that. But he believed in my project, and still does, apparently.
So thank you, Markos, for your generosity to Street Prophets, Mother Talkers, and that other website - what was its name again? My life is a little better for knowing you, and the state of the progressive movement is a lot better for having you around.
Now, about that Soros money. Does he write the check to you, and you pass it on to me? Or does he just build me a deck?
