As a 68 year old American (now, a "dual") who moved to Australia way back in 1971, some things about this place still just please me enormously. For example, today the Australian Prime Minister-elect, Kevin Rudd, drove his kid to school. We're not talking chauffeurs here, folks. Personally loaded him up, drove him to school, then drove his wife to work. Oh, did I mention it was in his hybrid car?
Was it all just some kind of gimmick (an American-type thought)? Honestly, I don't think so - and I reckon I've seen it all.
His predecessor, Howard, is/was a complete jerk. This guy, I have high hopes for.
