I'll admit that I am one of those DLCish, middle of the road democrats. I really liked Bill Clinton. I am moderate both socially and economically.
I support sensible fiscal policy that includes cutting the size of our government, reducing the deficit (no more tax cuts until we are well in the black), and reforming our Healthcare to cut costs and insure everyone who needs it.
I support sensible Foreign and Defense policy with smart economic assistance to developing countries, and improving our intelligence services to battle any threats abroad.
I also generally support Free Trade policies that also are not completely disadvantageous to our workers and our economy.
That is why I support Hillary Clinton for President. We need to move away from the disastrous policies of the last 7 years and back to the policies that work. Healthcare reform, restoring sanity to taxation, striking the right balance between our Constitutional Rights and our Security, sensible Foreign Policy that will gain us our standing back - all will come with an election of a very respectable senator from New York.
Hillary Clinton would withdraw troops from Iraq and reverse the economic course that clueless "prescribe tax cut for everything" conservatives have persisted in. There would be no estate tax cut. There would be no Cowboy-style diplomacy. There would be no Warrantless spying.
She is not ideal but she is experienced. There would be no neocons (like those who are now advising Giuliani) running the show. There would be diplomacy with Iran and Middle East peace process.
Ultimately she is electable. She has shown that she can beat Giuliani before, and she can do it again nationwide. Respectable polls show Hillary Clinton beating all possible republican opponents.
Some people here think we should be focused on bringing the current government to justice and making them pay. It seems to me they are more focused on vengeance and not enough on the future and how to fix the mess that we are in. Prosecuting Bush and Cheney will fix nothing on its own and though it might feel great, it is nowhere near as good for our Country as having a Democratic President with a Democratic Congress bringing sanity back to governance and reversing the current policies at home and abroad.
That's why I think priorities should be about coalescing around our nominee whoever she might be, and creating working majorities in congress!
