So I happily began reading this book recently borrowed from the library titled: Censored 2007 The Top 25 Censored News Stories by Peter Phillips and Project Censored. It's the 30th Anniversary Edition, published by Seven Stories Press and authored by various respected, real journalists. This book is fantastic, and not for the faint of heart. Just check out some of these chapters from the book:
Chapter 4: Hunger and Homelessness increases in the USA (only 1 America, right Romney?)
Chapter 10: Expanded Air War in Iraq Kills more Civilians
Chapter 8: Pentagon Exempt from Freedom of Information Act (however, I'm happy to report that legislative block expires in December 2007--a few days away)
Chapter 6: Federal Whistleblower Protection in Jeopardy
Chapter 17: Iraq Invasion Promotes OPEC Agenda
Chapter 22: Billions in Homeland Security Spending Undisclosed
Chapter 24: Cheney's Halliburton Stock Rose Over 3,000% Last Year
And my personal favorite, and the one that prompted me to write this diary, which I will excerpt in part below the fold:
Chapter 2: HALLIBURTON CHARGED WITH SELLING NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGIES TO IRAN
The source of this article: Global Research from Aug. 2005
Title: Halliburton Secretly Doing Business With Key Member of Iran's Nuclear Team, By Jason Leopold
According to journalist Jason Leopold, sources at former Cheney company Halliburton allege that, as recently as January 2005, Halliburton sold key components for a nuclear reactor to an Iranian oil development company. Leopold says his Halliburton sources have intimate knowledge of the business dealings of both Halliburton and Oriental Oil Kish, one of Iran's largest oil companies.
Additionally, thoughout 2004 and 2005, Halliburton worked closely with Cyrus Nasseri, the vice chairman of the board of directors of Iran-based Oriental Oil Kish, to develop oil projects in Iran.
Nasseri is also a key member of Irans' nuclear development team. Nasseri was interrogated by Iranian authorities in late july 2005 for allegedly providing Halliburton with Iran's nuclear secrets. Iranian government charged Nasseri with accepting as much as $1 million dollars in bribed from Halliburton for this information.
And it gets juicier:
However, Halliburton has a long history of doing business in Iran, starting as early as 1995, while Vice President Cheney was chief executive of the company.
It was Cheney who directed Halliburton towards aggressive business dealings with Iran--in violation of US law--in the mid-1990's, which continued through 2005 and is the reason Iran has the capability to enrich weapons-grade uranium.
It was Halliburton's secret sale of centrifuges to Iran that helped get the uranium enrichment program off the ground, according to the 3-year investigation that includes interviews conducted with more than a dozen current and former Halliburton employees.
If the United States ends up engaged in a war with Iran in the future, Cheney and Halliburton will bear the brunt of the blame.
Christ, I couldn't even make up this shit if I tried. Leopold goes on to say:
But this shouldn't come as a shock to anyone who has been following Halliburton's business activities over the past decade. The company has a long, documented history of violating US sanctions and conducting business with so-called rogue nations.
No, what's disturbing about these fcats is how little attention it has received from the mainstream media. But the public record speaks for itself, as do thousands of pages of documents obtained by various federal agencies that show how Halliburton's business dealings in Iran helped fund terroist activities there--including the country's nuclear enrichment program.
Leopold says:
When I asked Wendy Hall, a spokewoman for Halliburton, a couple of years ago if Halliburton would stop doing business dealings with Iran because of concerns that the company helped fund terroism she said, "No."
And here's Mr. Untouchable himself, doing what he does best: Lying to the American people, Misleading the American people, and trying to put more of our American troops to go die in his own sick, little war for his own depraved means. Impeach this bastard now.
