Meet Benjamin Johnson. As the co-chair of the Iowa Federation of College Republicans, Ben supersedes even young Matthew Continetti in terms of arrogance and self-satisfaction with regard to how Americans view the troops.
I came across Ben while doing research for a new series we’ve been running on VetVoice. It’s called Chickenhawk of the Day.
I found Ben after being tipped off by a commenter on VetVoice who’d seen him on Wonkette and Operation Yellow Elephant. I could describe Ben, but I’ll let him tell you about himself in his own words. As God is my witness, this is his actual bio:
From a young age I enjoyed keeping the money I earned and therefore became a Conservative. I also enjoy nice bowns of pipe tobacco, a fine suit, some hometown family values and flagwaving. Major affiliations with the Kirkwood College Republicans and the University of Iowa College Republicans. Make love after war.
Now, it doesn’t stop there. It only gets better. Ben actually goes on film stating that we invaded Iraq because of 9/11. Here’s the transcript:
"Situations can become so political. So extremely political that you lose the real reason why we went to Iraq to begin with. It’s now become. . .it’s now become America versus George W. Bush, or Democrats versus George W. Bush and his war. It was never really his war. Look at the votes. Look at the reasons why we were there to begin with. There isn’t a person in the world that on that September morning didn’t say there needs to be retribution for this. There’s no one in America that didn’t say something needs to happen about this."
And you can catch the video of it here.
But that wasn’t even Ben’s best moment. Below, you will witness an astoundingly arrogant display of ignorance and cowardice. This guy actually talks about soldiers and marines as if they were animals in a zoo. And to boot, he actually thinks he’s doing deployed troops a favor.
Ben Johnson is, without a doubt, The Perfect Chickenhawk:
The video speaks for itself. Ben Johnson represents legions of people—a terrifying prospect. But I just wanted to throw this out there for everyone to see. Because I love public humiliation of people like Ben. They bring it on themselves. And ten years from now, when Ben is deeply regretful of making an ass of himself on camera in 2007, perhaps he’ll be forced to consider. . .well. . .perhaps he’ll be forced to consider what an ass he was in college.
I wonder what the people at RedState and Little Green Footballs think of this guy.
