From ABC hosted Democratic debate:
BARACK OBAMA: It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an Al Qaida leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets, and President Musharraf will not act, we will.
From the ABC hosted Republican debate:
WILLARD ROMNEY: Yes, I think Barack Obama is confused as to who are our friends and who are our enemies.... We've trying to strengthen Musharraf. We're trying to strengthen the foundations of democracy and freedom in that country so that they will be able to reject the extremists.
We're working with them -- we're working with them...
Hmm, could it be that Willard is a bit confused over a few things. Such as whether Senator Obama used the word "bomb," or exactly how supporting a military dictator is good for democracy?
Senior figures within Pakistan's military establishment said last night that President Pervez Musharraf could face a rebellion from his own party as well as mass civil unrest directed at his draconian rule.
...
A former senior military adviser to Gen Musharraf told The Daily Telegraph that the Pakistani leader had run out of options and doubted that he would ever hold elections.
Nothing strengthens "the foundations of democracy and freedom" quite like backing the guy who has declared himself president for life.
