Yeah, it's an invasion. I've read about this several times over the past few days, some of it from folks I thought were smart enough to se through obvious bullshit.
Here's the latest incarnation of misleading nonsense.
Ugh, come on, people.
Let me make this short because frankly, it doesn't even deserve that much time.
Looky here:
Non-Iowa Resident Attending College IN Iowa
If you are from another state (i.e. Illinois) and are attending college in Iowa (i.e. Iowa State University), you may register to vote in:
your Iowa college town or
your home state (hometown) and vote absentee
(You cannot register to vote in both locations)
It's crystal clear. It's obvious. It's freakin' LEGAL.
Yet people (and mostly the Clintonians) are leaping all over Obama about this utter non-issue.
Not only is it legal, but it makes sense! Students going to school out of state obviously have to fucking LIVE out of state for the majority of the year. They rent apartments, live in houses, pay taxes, etc., all that stuff in the state in which they go to school.
All this "They're not real Iowans reeks of the same sort of right-wing bullshit that we had to deal with when we were slammed with "Liberals aren't real Americans."
Anyone pushing this bullshit story should be fucking ashamed. Anyone who recommends these idiotic diaries should be fucking ashamed.
And I say that as a staunch supporter of Chris Dodd, someone who was vocally critical of this situation (wrongly critical, by the way).
Christ, don't we have enugh bullshit to deal with without having it slung in our faces by our own party members?
Fucking pathetic.
UPDATE: Per kredwyn, SaneSoutherner wrote a nicer version of this diary, head over and show some love.
UPDATE 2: Malachite pointed out something I think we all missed; my original blockquote (since changed to reflect the accurate portion of the link) was about the rules for IOWA students attending schol in Iowa. The quote has been corrected. Thanks, Malachite. I'm surprised no one else noticed!
