This diary is intended to address the false claims being made on this site by opponents of ours about Planned Parenthood's endorsement of Bill Foster.
Let's be clear.
Bill Foster is pro-choice and believes strongly in a woman's right to choose. He believes in increasing access to healthcare services for women, especially contraceptive. He is a scientist, a welcome change for politicians that make decisions based on partisanship instead of facts.
You cannot receive the endorsement with any other positions. The campaign reached out to Illinois Planned Parenthood Council in August and filled out a questionnaire, the same questionnaire every candidate is offered.
IL Planned Parenthood Council ENDORSED Bill Foster. The claim that the campaign has somehow fabricated that endorsement is utter nonsense.
The endorsement came from the from the Illinois Planned Parenthood Council, not the National Planned Parenthood Action fund.
Bill Foster met with and was interviewed by ILPPC, and has met extensively with other pro-choice groups in the greater Chicago area and has been warmly received.
The idea that Bill Foster bought this endorsement is also utter nonsense. In fact, Bill Foster has never contributed to Planned Parenthood.
Also, the idea that Senator Durbin would support a candidate who would engage in such dishonesty also doesn't hold water.
We have always engaged in spirited debate on the issues and welcome a healthy campaign cycle. We respect John and his campaign.
In fact, one of the complaints John's campaign supporters of John who frequently comment on blogs made is legitimate and completely correct. There is no issue section on women's issues and this something we will address right away. To be clear, that was not intentional. The issue section of the web page has changed 1 time since April when we released Bill's energy plan a few weeks ago.
We do feel that when inaccurate charges are made, we must respond with the truth.
We welcome any questions you might have about Bill and the campaign. Please email us at info-at-foster08.com and we'll be happy to answer them.
We also feel, that when you look at Bill's history, his stance on trade --which earned him the unequivocal endorsement of Congressman Phil Hare, the fact that he left his job in 2006 to go make a difference in this country, his support of ending the war in Iraq, as well as his message of fiscal responsibility, you'll come to appreciate his campaign.
But don't take our word for it, look at the local blog coverage.
