I normally turn the channel after Countdown when Dan Abram's show is aired, but left it on doing something else tonight. Lo and behold he is doing a series this week called Bush League Justice and it is the hardest-hitting series, short of Olbermann's excellent themes, that I have seen for a while.
From the web site introduction:
Maybe most egregious is the now nearly unrecognizable Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. Since 1957, it has led the effort to enforce civil rights laws and the fight for minorities. Even Richard Nixon’s effort to delay implementation of school desegregation, was less radical then how this President has flipped the goals and mission of the Division and allowed it to become a tool of the radical right.
Has Dan gotten religion?
The series started Monday and ends tomorrow. I missed the first two days, but if tonight is any indication, then MSNBC is stepping up the journalistic pressure in a big way. The interview with Sheldon Whitehouse is particularly good.
The series is only the first part of the show, then it wanders off into more normal fare. But just to have another few minutes of sanity on the airwaves is refreshing, especially from Abrams, who has been carefully "neutral" in previous incarnations. Check out the videos from the first two days, available on the web site link in the introduction, and tonight's when it becomes available.
We should show Dan some love for at least this first step in the right direction. I'm still in shock. Reactions and shock therapy greatly appreciated below. Is this a new turn in the direction of real news at MSNBC, or just a fluke?
