First, the question: What should I do to celebrate a year of this diary? It's coming up!
A lot of good teaching goes on at dailyKos. But a lot of it doesn't get read by everyone who wants to read it, because diaries scroll by so fast.
This series is about diaries that teach and about things you want to learn. Could be any subject - an academic subject, a skill, a hobby, almost anything - but not diaries that simply inform, or it would include all of daily kos.
What I do is, each week, search for the tags 'teaching' and 'learning' and go through jotter's lists for diaries that teach. Then I'll post the list, with perhaps some brief comment, and open the floor to people who want to learn something specific.
You can help me by tagging diaries with 'teaching' or 'learning' when you see diaries that merit those tags, by reminding me of what I've missed, by recommending this diary, and by commenting.
OK.....here we go, alphabetically by diarist
A Siegel takes MIT to task in Energy NOT cool: Oy vey iz mir! MIT focused on BAU not BTB; he also tells us about the German building code (hint - it's better than ours)
beckstei tells us about other primates in Saturday morning SAD blogging
boran2 has volume 123 of Saturday painting palooza
claude has volume 2.18 of Saturday morning home repair
Cordelia Lear hosted What's for dinner? with a diary on tourtiere
David Brin (yes, the writer) talks about fun with science While there's still an enlightenment
dmsilev talks about the dkos FAQ
Frankenoid has volume 3.43 of Saturday morning home and garden blogging
The eclectic and interesting gmoke tells us about returning to Earth; he also tells us about solar lights for Christmas
In a diary that was (deservedly) at the top of the rec list Granny Doc tells us that we used to call it mental illness
Another eclectic and interesting diarist, juliewolf tells us about Conformity and the Asch experiment
kath25 uses this week's Kossacks under 35 to talk about health care plans
Land of Enchantment fills in for lineatus in Birdblogging: Christmas bird count.
Mark H takes a break from his usual marine life series to tell us how to self-detox: It's a bad idea
NNadir has a note on this race and IQ business
In this week's Frugal Fridays, sarahnity tells us what to do when we are in a cash crunch
But that's just part 1! Please, tell us things you'd like to learn, things you'd like to teach. I'd like this diary to be a place where people can ask for help learning things....somewhat like buhdy's "Ask a Kossack" series, but for questions that require a little more time.
