As bobdevo noted earlier, Bill Clinton announced yesterday that -- if elected -- Hillary Clinton would send him and his predecessor, George Herbert Walker Bush, on a diplomatic mission around the world to -- essentially -- apologize for the mess George Walker Bush has made and to assure the world that the United States would be, once more, "open for business."
As expected, Poppy Bush is having none of it.
The announcement today could not have been more embarrassing for President Clinton and, by extension, Senator Clinton.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former President George H.W. Bush has shot down his successor Bill Clinton’s idea of a diplomatic mission under a Hillary Clinton presidency that would send him and other notables abroad to assure other nations that "America is open for business and cooperation again."
Naturally enough, Bush 41 wanted nothing to do with the central assertion of the Clinton "initiative," that his son's presidency has been a diplomatic failure.
In a statement sent to CNN Tuesday afternoon, former President Bush’s chief of staff Jean Becker said that he "wholeheartedly supports the President of the United States, including his foreign policy. He has never discussed an ‘around-the-world-mission’ with either former President Bill Clinton or Sen. Clinton, nor does he think such a mission is warranted since he is proud of the role America continues to play around the world as the beacon of hope for freedom and democracy.
The spokesperson went on to declare that the elder Bush was very happy with the current crop of GOP candidates. Nowhere was there the slightest indication that Poppy would welcome in any way a second Clinton Administration.

So the upshot of Bill's latest "helpful" declaration on behalf of his wife is that he looks like a loose cannon, she appears to be unable to rein him in, and the House of Bush enjoys a public smack-down of this latest pitiful attempt at "bi-partisanship."
Let us all hope that the dynastic rule of these United States ends next November!
