This seems to be a rather popular post on my mundane Livejournal, but now that the number of signatures on Wexler's impeachment petition has officially passed the 100,000 mark, it's time to turn up that heat even more and share the "followup" love on DKos. I've made it easier to do so with a little HTML link festival below the fold.
It's clear the Executive Branch is running scared. Wexler's drive to impeach is gaining steam in Committee, and the postponement of the FISA bill which would retroactively immunize not just the telecommunications industry but the Executive Branch who ordered them to break the law means that they need to cover their tracks, and quickly. I believe the Grey Lady is still trying her valiant (if subtle) best to give us "all the news that's fit to print", for all that she may have a gun pointed at her old grey head:
We have two weeks before the FISA bill comes up in the Senate again. Use them well, starting now.
Go here to add your name to the Wexler petition. Note: be patient - their web page is getting POUNDED right now, either by legitimate attempts to access or a denial of service attack.
Here is Friday's op-ed piece that has been suppressed by the mainstream media, to include the Miami Herald, the Washington Post and the New York Times.
Now this is the important part - FOLLOW UP. The other Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee need to hear from you on this issue. Here, I'll make it easy: just do the clicky!
If your Representative is not listed below, you can email the entire House Judiciary Committee here. If your Representative is listed below and you are their direct constituent, please contact them directly. Urgent and immediate action is especially needed from the direct constituents of the following members of the House:
ALABAMA: Rep. Davis
CALIFORNIA: Rep. Berman, Rep. Lofgren, Rep Sanchez, Rep. Sherman, Rep. Schiff, Rep Waters
FLORIDA: Rep. Wasserman-Schulz
GEORGIA: Rep. Johnson
MASSACHUSETTS: Rep. Delahunt
MICHIGAN: Rep. Conyers
MINNESOTA: Rep. Ellison
NEW YORK: Rep. Nadler, Rep. Weiner
NORTH CAROLINA: Rep. Watt
OHIO: Rep. Sutton
TENNESSEE: Rep. Cohen
TEXAS: Rep. Jackson Lee
VIRGINIA: Rep. Boucher, Rep. Scott
And of course, call your Senators and urge them not to permit retroactive immunity and continued warrantless wiretapping. Support Chris Dodd! Don't waste these two precious weeks he and his supporters have bought for us!
