President Bush stated in his press conference today that he wonders whether, ten years from now, Putin will prove to have been a consequential leader.
It caused me to wonder if, in ten years, Bush will be regarded any way other than to have been the most dangerous, destructive man to have ever held the office. Consequential? Most definitely! It will take many decades to unravel the knots and snafus and crimes that Bush has effected. And that is just the things we know about! God help us when we learn all the other things that have not yet come to light!
As the new "scandal du jour" is revealed, we just have to hope that it will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. That camel’s belly must surely be dragging the ground by now.
The best hope I see now is US District Judge Kennedy's determination to investigate the destruction of the CIA tapes. Is there anything we can do to see that his investigation is not scuttled by the Repugs and ignored by the Dems? Writing to our Senators and Representatives seems to have little effect. I have kept the phone calls and e-mails streaming to mine (all Republicans). All I get is sickening platitudes about how President Bush is concerned about yada, yada, yada, and has plans to make life wonderful for everyone!
January 20, 2009, can't come soon enough! But, Lord, what else can he get us into between now and then?!
