I found this article on line this morning.
Retirees lose employer health coverage
Join me after the jump......
I think this article points out further proof that we need 'civilized' medicine.
After many years of service to your company, you decide to retire if you are able. Once you pass the magical 65 year old mark, you will be rewarded with trying to find affordable health coverage/supplemental from another for-profit provider, who can rate your risk based upon age. Wow..what a wonderful reward.
The part of the article that points out the 'bottom line' sickness of this issue is the fact that employers have threatened that if they are not able to drop the high-risk 'old people', then they will just drop health care coverage for all employees. What a wonderful way to pit one demographic group against another.
It may sound pretty 'single issue' on my part, but my vote will go to the candidate that has the best solution to the health care/insurance crisis in our country. Probably stems from the fact that I will soon be an 'old person'.
