And would lead to a Democratic landslide in November.
Christopher Matthews is right! Barack Hussein Obama winning the Iowa caucuses would be the front headliner around the world. The world would be amazed: a man named Barack Hussein Obama is poised to become leader of the free world. The world would take a fresh, admiring look at America again if we were to elect him as our president. Iowans have a bold chance to make history. I hope they make that choice.
Seriously...he really is the only candidate that could bring this level of excitement at home and abroad. Hillary is well-liked abroad but we've all read about Hillary's negatives at home and how she is the most polarizing figure in the party and the country and would fire up stiff opposition from the right. John Edwards, although much more preferable to Clinton, brings excitement only in the leftwing bloggosphere. In 2004 he turned out to be a disappointing campaigner.
Ideologically speaking, I could vote for any three of these. However, Clinton is very uninspiring as a speaker and is often upstaged by her husband:
Clinton-Bayh...SNOOZE
Clinton-Richardson...SNOOZE
Clinton-Kerrey (Bob of NE)...SNOOZE
Edwards is an improvement over Clinton and depending on who his running mate is, I could concievably get excited about him. But like I mentioned previously, he turned out to be a lackluster campaigner for John Kerry in 2004. I remember a diary on D-Kos in 2004 titled: "Where is John Edwards?" That diary had a pretty good point because I hadn't heard from him either.
In particular he was tasked with campaigning through the small towns and rural areas of the Midwest. They were specifically targeting Iowa and much of his time was spent there. Guess what folks? In 2004 Iowa went for George Bush, voting Republican for the first time in 20 years! Dukakis could win Iowa but John Edwards failed to deliver Iowa for Kerry.
Nothing would light a fire in my belly and the bellies of many Americans more than having Obama at the top of the ticket. Just look at the crowd comparison for each candidate in Davenport, IA the other day: John Edwards - 200-350, Barack Obama - 850-1000.
Come on Iowans! Be BOLD! Make History! Make the political process exciting again!
