What do you think of
this?
White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card returned home yesterday with celebrity status among lawmakers, stirring speculation that he may be exploring a GOP run for governor in 2006.
...
House Minority Leader Bradley H. Jones Jr. (R-North Reading) said Card could easily be a ``lightning rod'' here because of Bush.
``He's obviously worked very closely for President Bush and wanting to come back to Massachusetts and run is obviously a daunting task for a red guy in a heavily blue state,'' Jones said. ``Running as a Republican is tough enough in Massachusetts. I think he could probably be as helpful, if not more helpful, to Massachusetts where he is.''
I have friends in Mass politics who say Card is incredibly charismatic and winning, but when the
leading Republican in the state leg is talking him down, you've got to pessimistic about Card's chances.
Wouldn't it be sweet to destroy Card in 2006, though?
