Ok. I completely, thoroughly, and utterly disagree with Ralph Nader's decision to run for prez in 2004.
HOWEVER, I am absolutely sick of the know-nothings in the "liberal" media (and on this blog) who say he is doing this because he is an "egomaniac."
As someone who has met Nader several times, interviewed him twice for publications, and worked for two of his organizations, I know that there is nothing "egomaniacal" about this man.
If you bother to get to know him at all, what's striking is that he is an incredibly good, decent person who actually thinks very little about personal ambition or gain.
He is certainly less self-aggrandizing than most of the self-absorbed blow-hard pundits who are making this accusation.
Misguided? Non-strategic? Doesn't know when to stop? You can accuse him of all of these things and more. But he most certainly is not an ego-maniac.
Let's nip this absurd meme in the bud. It distracts from the many real criticisms and arguments/criticisms we can level at Nader for his bad decision.
