Tonight I will present the big news I
have been hinting about for three weeks now. I hope some of you have
noticed my conspicuous absence from posting comments, recommending
dairies, and writing my “This Week in Fascism” columns. I
have been busy preparing a way in which we can combine our efforts
and take this country back from those who currently have unlimited
control on most of our governments.
BringVisibility.net is open for action.
The biggest problem I see within the
Democratic, Leftist, and Progressive movements is the fact that there
are too many individual groups, and those groups are composed of too
many individualists. We must combine our efforts and I have developed
a way.
Two weeks ago I went to a “protest”
sponsored by the LSUS Student Democrats in Shreveport, La. I had
received a notification from MoveOnPac.org. I was expecting a descent
sized protest since President Bush was having his Social Security
Road Show at the same time and MoveOnPac.org is supposed to be the
best financed left wing organization. There was only 20 people there.
4 Student Democrats, 5 Student Republican counter protesters, 4
speakers, 6 reporters and cameramen, and me.
The whole thing was over as soon as
the speakers gave their speeches. The Republicans never said a word.
The provided sighs were only 2 small signs the Student Democrats had
made. I was the last one there since I stayed an hour trying to
figure out what went wrong.
I left and discovered the Bush was at
Centenary College and not LSUS. I went there a found a good hearted
crowd of 150 progressive protesters with 20 Republican counter
protesters. This group had no organization, they were just a diverse
group who had read that a protest area was provided near where Bush
was expected to speak.
We have to coordinate our efforts. It
seems that every group wants to have their own events so they can
claim some credit and get more donations. We need to use the power of
the Internet to get people to take action. We need to know what we
can do in our communities, our counties, our states, and our country.
A few weeks ago I read a diary here
about a school board meeting where 40 people voted on the approval of
an $8 million dollar budget.
This has to change. We can be heard if
we attend school board meetings. We can be heard if we attend city
and county level meetings. We can be heard if we get all the groups
to hold combined rallys. 40,000 people changed the courses of the
Ukraine and Lebanon. We can do the same if we are informed and
energized. We here at Dkos are well informed on issues but we don't
pay attention to activism. We bitch and complain on this site, and
others, but until we get together where cameramen and reporters are.
Until we get together in events where are voices will be heard we
will not be heard.
The big news is that
BringVisibility.net
is open to the Public. I have developed BringVisibility.net
to provide a place for organizers and others to announce events. I
have provided a place for people to list their local events. I have
provided a place for writers to highlight there work.
I have provided a place for you to
find out what others are saying about the issues you care about. I
have provided a place for you to discover what is happening in your
area.
We need to attract writers and
organizers and we will do that with people. Come join in at
BringVisibility.net so
you will know what is happening in your area. Come to
BringVisibility.net so you can be informed of what others are saying
and what people are paying attention too. I have not forgotten the
quiet voices.
If BringVisibility.net lives up to
it's potential we will have a new tool for action. If we take that
action we will be heard. If we are heard we will take back this
country we care so much about.
Get over to BringVisibility.net
and when you get action alerts get off your ass and take action.
